What is it?
It’s a permanent makeup technique using a tattoo machine to imbed semi-permanent pigment into the brow. It’s primarily used to mimic what women do using makeup (powder, gel, pomade) to fill in the gaps in their brows.
As we age, our brow hair thins. This is a great way to fill in those gaps without the maintenance of doing it every day.
How is this different from microblading?
Ombré brow uses a tattoo machine. Like traditional tattooing, the needle carrying the semi-permanent pigment moves in and out of the skin in order to imbed the pigment into the skin. Because the movement is in and out, there is minimal trauma to the skin.
With microblading, a blade is used to cut the skin to imbed the pigment into the cut. Normally, this causes more trauma to the skin.
The look of Ombré is different from microblading. Ombré offers a more solid background to the brow hair. Microblading gives more of a hair-like look.
How long does it last?
On average, it can last up to 3 years.
